Experimental Procedures

General procedures. All experiments (if not mentioned otherwise) with metal complexes and the phosphine ligands were carried out under an atmosphere of purified argon in an MBraun UNIlab glovebox. All solvents were reagent grade or better. All nondeuterated solvents were refluxed over sodium/benzophenone ketyl and distilled under argon atmosphere. Deuterated solvents were rigorously dried over sodium. All the solvents were degassed with argon and kept in the glove-box over sodium. Commercially available reagents were used as received. All experiments involving preparation of complex 2 were carried out in 20 ml polypropylene vials (Wheaton), using glass-coated stirring bars. All reactions with complex 2 were carried 2 out in 2.5 ml polypropylene test tubes (Sarstedt). The precursor (COD)Pt(CH3)Cl was prepared according to a literature procedure.1 Analysis. 1H, 13C, 31P and 195Pt NMR spectra were recorded at 500, 126, 202 and 107 MHz, respectively, using a Bruker Avance-500 NMR spectrometer. 19F NMR spectra were recorded at 376 MHz using a Bruker Avance-400 NMR spectrometer
