MASTER OF LANDSCAPE ARCHITECTURE

I extend my sincere appreciation to Dr. Pat D. Taylor, my thesis advisor and committee chair, who not only encouraged and guided me through the completion of this research, but who also answered, “no, ” when I asked “am I crazy for even considering pursuing this degree? ” I am also grateful to my committee members, Professor David Hopman and Dr. Taner R. Özdil, for their input and contributions towards my education. My deepest gratitude goes to my husband, Michael, who encouraged and supported me (mentally and financially) throughout my education and who never lost faith in my abilities or complained about studio project all-nighters. His continuous love, encouragement, and confidence in my abilities are what got me through the toughest of times. He deserves an honorary award for all the sacrifices he’s made. I’m also indebted to Rosa Finsley, ASLA, my employer, mentor, and friend, who “taught me the ropes ” by giving me real life experience in the field and had faith in my abilities when I could barely tell a Live Oak from a Cedar Elm. Rosa introduced me to the Montgomery Farm site and suggested this thesis topic.
