Effective Design of Solar Water Heater

Abstract:- Hot water is needed for many purposes and the Sun heat is being used effectively and economically for this purpose. The heating effect of solar radiation is very obvious from the fact that if a container of the cold water is left exposed to the sun, the temperature of the water will rise. Solar water heating systems are designed to make convenient use of this phenomenon. The world wide problem that scientists and Engineers are facing today is the management, conservation and use of energy. The conventional fuels are limited and their use creates many environmental problems like acid rain, global climate change, Ozone depletion etc. Solar water heater is a long term investment and save energy for many years. Solar water heaters do not pollute. We have already designed and published our work on cost effective solar water heater, tested and found it successful with minor problems like condensation of water on the surface of Glass. Our present design considers the top glass cover is slightly inclined, to minimize the problem of condensation of water vapors and an additional glass cover with an air gap between the two to increase the heat duty absorbed by the solar water heater. We also inclined each side at an angle of 75 degree with reference to the base to intercept maximum radiations from the Sun due to which the efficiency of solar water heater has been improved by about 20%
