The proposed Integrated Care Record Service (ICRS), will in Phase 2 (2006-8) support Electronic Transmission of Prescriptions (ETP) as well as other services including the Electronic Health Record (EHR) spine. This paper reflects on the experience of evaluating three pilot implementations of ETP in England in 2002, and concludes that some findings may be relevant not only to ETP but to EHR systems and the wider implications of implementing ICRS
