Until recently, most psychiatric rehabilitation models have been poorly defined and few have had systematic methods for measuring their implementation. We review the historical roots for the development of fidelity measures and describe recent applications in both research and practice. KEY WORDS: fidelity; program implementation; program standards; program models; psychiatric reha-bilitation. Fidelity refers to the degree to which a particular program follows a program model. By program model we mean a well-defined set of interventions and procedures to help individuals achieve some de-sired goal.
