The Comprehensive Ocean-Atmosphere Data Set (COADS) is the most complete data set available for the global oceanic regions up to now. Furthermore the data are updated almost in real time. Since the 1980s, 1.2 million ship observations have been collected for each new year, and the number for each year increases as more late data is collected until it reaches about 2.1 millio
