www.uab.edu Abstract: Robotic Systems will soon be prevalent parts of the Internet and will allow users remote access and control to not only data but to systems which physically perform tasks. While current robots are user specific, robots of the future will be a major part of the infrastructure of industry, hospitals, retail, research, and even our homes. Internet controlled robots must be able to interact with multiple users, authenticate users, track usage and users, and provide feedback to the user. To provide for the future use of system systems, standardized protocols will need to be developed. This paper addresses the key issues and the basic architecture of an Internet based protocol for a robotic system
