Abstract — This paper presents a novel fuzzy multicriteria decision-making (MCDM) based on the vague set theory. A novel score function is presented to measure the degree of suitability that an alternative satisfies the decision maker’s requirment. Some important properties of the novel function are discussed and a comparison with the original ones proposed by Chen and Hong is made. The function provided is more reasonable than those of Chen and Hong, and can help the decision-maker make his decision more efficiently. An example is shown to illustrate the practical application of the proposed function at the end o
