ion exchange has proven to be an excellent method of heavy metal removal from segregated electroplating and metal finishing rinse waters. A description of six critical design criteria for selecting sludgeless ion exchange systems will be discussed. A metal finishing example of chromate conversion on cadmium and on zinc is used to illustrate the advantages of a metal recovery system for wastewater treatment.
