2000. This project is located south of Lake Okeechobee at the northem boundary of the Everglades Protection Area (EPA). The project has two features: a) an above-ground reservoir with a storage capacity of 240,000 acre-feet; and b) conveyance capacity improvements to more than 60 miles of canals. The reservoir capacity will provide for irrigation requirements in the EAA, environmental deliveries of water to the EPA, storage of regulatory releases from Lake Okeechobee, and increased flood protection within the EAA. Flows to the EPA will be delivered through Storm Water Treatment Areas (STAs) for water quality treatment prior to discharge.
