The role of the high school counselor is one that can be frequently misunderstood. School counselors are in frequent contact with teachers, administrators, and students. Parents, however, often do not get as much of an opportunity to communicate with their son's or daughter's school counselor. This allows for misconceptions about the role of the school counselor at the high school level. Frequent communication with parents can increase the success rate of students and can be a positive way to keep parents involved in the lives of their teens.
