The aim of this paper is to discuss the Quasi Doppler or Pseudo Doppler bearing estimation method and show how contemporary digital sig-nal processing and some minimal a priori knowl-edge of the signal can improve the method and make it relevant even today for low complexity localization purposes. The basic idea is that non-uniform switching of antennas on the transmit-ter side, and careful examination of phase jumps can mitigate or even completely cancel out the adverse effects of phase changes (due to modula-tion, clock mismatch, clock jitter) on the bearing estimation process
