Transport is known to be one of the most significant investment sectors for many developing countries. Despite the recognized role of transport in development, scant attention has been accorded to the social and gender impacts of transport investments. The recognition of its key role in economic development through classic planning methods remains wanting because of the failure to see the different impacts of transport on the lives of women and men.
