Throughout Yoga’s long history, there have been many misconceptions which shrouded it in mystery until proper scientific research began in the beginning of 20th century. In India, people became aware of the need to revive old traditions and sciences which might otherwise die out and scientific research into Yoga was one of the areas which generated a lot of interest. Many western scholars too realized the utility of Yoga and made efforts to study its significance from scientific point of view.
