The extant literature includes no studies regarding the rate of premature termination in training clinics. The following study documents a very high rate of premature termination in a training clinic, relative to either the established literature or the regional prevalence rate. In addition, this study explores the contributions of effectiveness and role expectations in the prediction of premature termination. Results reveal that the effect of clients ’ pretreatment role expectations on eventual premature termination was moderated by the clients ’ pretreatment effectiveness expectancies.
