Unpublished manuscript, typed with handwritten correctionsdigitizedRabbi Kurt Wilhelm was born 1900 in Magdeburg, Germany. He studied at rabbinical seminaries in Breslau, Wuerzburg and New York, before starting his career at liberal communities in Germany. 1933 he emigrated to Jerusalem, where he worked for the Schocken publishing house and became rabbi for Jerusalem’s first liberal congregation, Emet ve-Emuna. 1948 he received a call to become chief rabbi in Stockholm, a position he held until his death in 1965.Rabbi Wilhelm was the author of many works in German, English and Swedish, focusing on liberal Judaism
