Abstract — This paper describes pMeasure, a tool for measuring large scale networks, particularly the Internet, from end to end. As the Internet grows in size and complexity, fine-grained, precise and timely measurements are needed to ensure its healthiness and ultimately benefit those mission-critical applications deployed on the Internet. The existing measurement infrastructures are unable to satisfy this need due to various reasons. pMeasure, on the other hand, is built on a Peer-to-Peer network substrate, namely Pastry, and can accomplish measurement tasks by utilizing only nodes at the edge of the Internet.
