The increase in population, urbanization and industrialization put a pressure on water resources management. Discharges from untreated wastewater cause serious surface water quality problems. Scenarios for water management in River Nile Rosetta branch are presented to describe the status and trends of water quality. The different scenarios were simulated using QUAL2K water quality model. Two different scenarios are proposed and assessed to avoid water quality deterioration in the Rosetta branch during the low demand period. The first is based on dilution approach to dilute the organic loads and to achieve the local guidelines regarding water quality.
