Why do some ethnic entrepreneurs break out the ethnic enclaves but others not? There has been little empirical research on mechanisms that facilitate or constrain immigrant entrepreneurs to break out the ethnic enclaves. Integrating three theoretical perspectives-social networks, the social impact of the Internet, and transnationalism, this paper aims to fill this gap. Results suggest that breaking out is primarily facilitated by ethnic diversity of entrepreneurs ’ networks
