The author uses a fixed-effects cost functiont to estimate whether economies of scale exist in graduate-degree-granting post-secondary institutions in the United States. Data for 1994 and 1995 from the U.S. Department of Education’s National Center for Education Statistics that is distributed through the Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS) was used to estimate the model. Results indicate that economies of scale exist for these institutions over this period
