It is well documented that the number of undergraduate students majoring in computer science at United States colleges and universities has declined in recent years [3, 7]. This situation is of great concern within the computing profession and is often a discussion topic at professional computing conferences, including the annual Consortium for Computing Sciences in Colleges Mid-South regional conference. In this paper, we identify from literature several reasons cited for the decline in the number of computer science majors, list literature proposed solutions, hypothesize that computer science seminars are part of the solution, and present results obtained from student surveys that conclude otherwise
