Components of gas turbines are exposed to different damaging factors during their lifetime. Besides the me-chanical stress caused by the high centrifugal force an-other important attack is initiated by the surrounding gas atmosphere. At high temperatures gas molecules dissociate and the atoms diffuse inwards the metallic components and react with the solved alloy constituents. The reaction products precipitate inside the component and pose an obstacle for the succeeding gas atoms. In order to analyse this effect this process has been pro-jected onto a cellular automaton.
