Abstract — as the network and development of multimedia technologies are becoming trendier, users are not satisfied with the usual information retrieval techniques. So now days the content based image retrieval is becoming a source of exact and fast retrieval. This paper aims to introduce the problems and challenges concerned with the design and the creation of CBIR (Content Based Image Retrieval) systems, which is based on a free hand sketch (Sketch based image retrieval – SBIR). The existing methods discovered that the proposed algorithm is better than the previous algorithms, which can handle the informational gap between a sketch and a painted image.
