Abstract — Currently the world’s airspace is being operated at the limits of both capacity and safety by different stakehold-ers. Various initiatives worldwide are investigating future air traffic management concepts. A shift towards trajectory-based environments is identified, where user needs and performance capabilities are leading to user preferred routing by using Airborne Separation Assistance Systems. Within the Control & Simulation Department two innovative interfaces have been developed based on the Ecological Interface Design paradigm, that prevent potential loss of separation in the horizontal and vertical plane respectively.
