Schools have been quick to adopt internet technology, but internet safety may not have been addressed with the same degree of vigour. While most schools appear to be aware that internet safety is a matter that must be addressed, the strategies adopted may not be sufficient to ensure all students experience a safe learning environment. This paper discusses the nature of the problem with reference to curriculum, school policy, school organisation, in-service education, teacher education and Ministry of Education perspectives. Strategies are proposed that may assist educators to more adequately address internet safety in schools
