The laboratory measurements of physical properties such as density, porosity, ultrasonic P-wave and S-wave velocities, Poisson’s ratio, Young’s modulus, Bulk modulus, and Shear modulus have been carried out of some of the different types of rocks of southern part of geographical Indian sub-continent. The rock samples consisted of igneous, sedimentary and metamorphic origins like basalt, granite, sandstone, rhyolite, dolerite and granulite. The dynamic elastic moduli were calculated using density, P-wave and S-wave velocity data’s. The compressional P-wave and shear S-wave velocities increases with increase in density, young’s modulus, shear modulus and Bulk modulus.
