As the world’s supply of fossil fuels dwindles, humans have begun the search for a replacement. One prospective solution is photovoltaics, a way of harnessing energy from light and using it to supply our electrical needs. This paper describes how photovoltaic cells work, analyzes its pros and cons, and compares its feasibility to that of other alternative sources. Finally, the paper concludes that the pros and recent rate of scientific advancements for photovoltaic cells make it not only a practical energy source in the near future, but also the best alternative energy
