TinyIPv6, a subset specication of the TCP/IPv6 protocol stack, has been investigated un-der the condition that it is intended for the restricted use in remote control of home appliances connected to the Internet. A hardware implementation(tinyUDPIPv6) of the simplied pro-tocol stack including link, network, and transport layers has been designed and realized on an FPGA(Field Programmable Gate Array). The implementation requires 73 % of the available hardware resources of 400,000 gate FPGA, operating at a clock rate of 36.35MHz. Round-trip times measured in ICMPv6 echo request and reply experiments have revealed that the per-formance of the tinyUDPIPv6 module is competent with that of a Pentium 133MHz PC.
