The photoelectric property of the composite assembly of C60 and CdS nanoparticles fabricated by LB technique was studied. The luminescence of CdS nanoparticles band–band exciton emission was extremely quenched resulted from the photocharge transfer from CdS nanoparticles to C60 across a lipidic layer (about 2–3 nm). The fatty layer between C60 and CdS nanoparticles played an important role in preventing photocharge recombination in their composite assemblies. 2003 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
