This paper suggests that there exists a symbiotic relationship between literacy and technology. By symbiotic we mean a mutually beneficial relationship. Furthermore, this paper examines the discourse surrounding current political debate and curriculum reform in schools using the Victorian system as a case in point. In particular, it considers the integration of information and communications technology (ICT) into the English curriculum. Also, this paper describes the use of technology in the literacy programs of school based primary education.
