Abstract – In this paper a printed monopole antenna with omni directional radiation pattern for UWB applications is proposed. Structure is a simple Petal shape monopole antenna designed on substrate FR4 offer impedance bandwidth which covers FCC defined ultra wide band. However, cross polar component increases with the increase in frequency as well as radiation pattern degrades. Further the structure is designed with RT Duroid and results are compared. Significant reduction in cross polar component is observed when dielectric constant is reduced. Also it results in less gain variation and omnidirectinal radiation pattern throughout UWB as compared to FR4
