Abstract: An optimal estimation problem is studied with a non-classical information architecture in the vehicle formation, coordinated control context. This information architecture prohibits the direct application of Kalman filter approaches. This paper shows that such a suboptimal feasible estimator is attainable by recasting it as a linear matrix inequality convex optimization problem. A simple example is given and several interesting design issues are then discussed. Copyright c©2005 IFA
