The late Professor Peter Davis, the celebrated Edinburgh botanist who had earlier collected his way around the Mediterranean, originally suggested to us that Oukaïmeden and environs needed further floristic investigation. In June of that same year, 1974, a collection was made by botanists from Reading and the Natural History Museum (or British Museum [Natural History], as it then was) on a joint Moroccan expedition. A total of 76 specimens were collected in Oukaïmeden by the four participants (C.J. Humphries [BM], I.B.K. Richardson [RNG], S.L. Jury [RNG] & †M. Mullin [BM]) on a briefer than planned visit.
