Abstract. This study assessed the impact of Massachusetts' parental consent law, which requires unmarried women under age 18 to obtain parental orjudicial consent before having an abortion. Data were analyzed on monthly totals of abortions and births to Massa-chusetts minors prior to and following the April 1981 implementation of the law.
