Thin film ferroelectrics are emerging as an important class of electronic materials. A key feature of the new technology is the relative ease with which miniature thin film ferroelectric devices may be integrated within semiconductor and hybrid monolithic packages. The flexibility of the technology has spawned imaginative engineering solutions to previously unrealisable designs. Examples in-clude non-volatile memories, high-permittivity random access memory, voltage-variable capaci-tors, ultrasonic arrays, and infrared imaging arrays
