THE WHY, WHAT, HOW AND WHO OF FOREIGN LANGUAJE RESEARCH

In the present article we point out the importance of research ¡n the área of foreign language teaching and then go on to discuss the main concerns of foreign language re-search: the language itself, the language learning process, the language teaching pro-cess, the teaching-learning environment. Next, we briefly review the methods commonly used in language teaching research and then conclude with some of the benefits resul-ting from action research carried out by foreign language teachers in their own class-rooms
