The purpose of this study was to investigatethe significanceof abnormal 67Ga-citrateskull uptake in AIDS patients with myco bacterioses.Methods Gallium-67scansof 39HIV-positivepa tients who had been diagnosedwith mycobactersoseswere analyzed; the scans of 15 consecutive HIV-positive patients withoutmycobact&oseswerealsoreviewedasacontrolgroup. The skullwas chosento assessbonemarrowuptakebecause of the absence of overlappingstructures.ResuI @ Twenty-nine of 39 (74%) patients with mycobacteña]infectionshad d,ssem mateddisease.Ga]hium-67uptakein theskullwasvisualizedin 24 of these 29 patients (82%). One of the patients without disseminateddiseaseand one patient in the control group (n = 15) showed skull uptake. Conclusion
