The policy and legislative implications of these principles, as they relate to nursing include, but are not limited to: • the need for long-term, sustained funding to foster individual and population wellness focused care, promotion of optimal wellness and the prevention of complications of chronic disease; • increased intersectoral action between and among health disciplines, government ministries and key stakeholders to systematically address the determinants of health in a meaningful way. • remuneration models that foster effective implementation of inter-professional health teams. • enabling health providers, including Registered Nurses, to work to full scope of practice. • discouraging the proliferation of new health provider roles at a time when existing roles have not been optimized. • ensuring that nursing, population health, and health system research ar
