Abstract: We consider a mixed problem for a degenerate differentialop-erator equation of higher order. We establish some embedding theorems in weighted Sobolev spaces and show existence and uniqueness of the generalized solution of this problem. We also give a description of the spectrum for the corresponding operator. Key words: Differential equations in abstract spaces, boundary value prob-lems, weighted Sobolev spaces, spectral theory of linear operators MSC 2000: 34B05, 34L05, 46E35
