A NEW genus of the family Gripopterygidae (Plecoptera) is established with two species, Apteryoperla monticola (genotype) and A. angularis. These wingless stoneflies live under alpine conditions in the Murchison Mountains, South-land, New Zealand. The eggs, nymphs and imagines of both species are des-cribed and figured, and some notes on their bionomics are included
