Abstract: Spatial data can be observed in various forms. A first distinction can be between continuous data and discontinuous data. It sometimes happens that data are not available in the form required by the phenomenon under study but, instead, in a different form. So, the spatial database we have in hand turns out to be the result of a transformation of the original geographical process, which is, instead, unobservable. Therefore, we want to know, what are the properties of the observed process given some hypotheses about the distributional form of the original process.
