Traces of organisms ’ burrowing movements in the once-soft sediment are most commonly manifested as disturbances of laminae in sedimentary rocks (figure 1). They also occur as discrete individual trace fossils.1 Many pictures of ichnofossils (individual trace fossils) are available online.2 Figures 2 and 3 provide examples collected by the author.
