Figure S1. Addition of a FLAG epitope tag does not affect SopB function. A. Cultured Henle-407 intestinal epithelial cells were infected with a S. Typhimurium ∆sopE ∆sopE2 mutant strain (to avoid the redundancy of these two effectors in this assay) encoding either wild type or a 3 x FLAG epitope tagged SopB. Forty minutes after infection, cells were fixed and stained with rhodamine phalloidin to visualize actin ruffles and DAPI to visualize bacterial DNA. Values represent the percentage of infected cells that exhibit actin ruffles. B. Cultured Henle-407 intestinal epithelial cells were infected with a S.
