Modern Manufacturing Execution Systems (MESs) provide new possibilities for employing robust process plans including technological alternatives. Decision making activities on MES level can be based on alternatives which had been created at the process planning stage. This requires the improvement of computer aided NC Programming (NCP) and simulation capabilities. This paper deals with the complex simulation and modelling problem of cutting processes and summarises the technical-economic model of turning operations. The operation level model of turning is presented. 1
