To obtain the design luminosity of 1035 cm2s1 for a 2-TeV muon collider[1], considering the projected muon production rate[1] and lifetime, demands very low -function values at the IP; a of 3mm. This very small is particularly difficult to achieve because the superconducting magnets must be heav-ily shielded from the decay products of the muon beam and be-cause space must be reserved for the detector about the interac-tion point, thereby reducing further quadrupole gradients which are already weak for 2-TeV muons.
