The paper will analyse how the Information Communication Technologies (ITCs) can empower young women in the education and economic sectors, as well as their advocacy to end violence against women and the girl children. The focus is on the young women in Africa. Examples of different initiatives and strategies by women organisations to empower young women through ICTs will be highlighted. The paper will furthermore, discuss the bottlenecks young women face in accessing and using ICTs for their self – determination. The presentation will then conclude by giving recommendations that need to be put in place in order to enable young women to fully utilise the ICTs / internet for their empowerment
