A prospective study was done to determine the prevalence of Hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg) and Hepatitis B e-antigen (HBeAg), describe the profile of HBV infected patients and evaluate risk factors for infection among OPD patients at JRRMMC. HBsAg and HBeAg markers were detected using the enzyme-linked immunoassay (ELISA) technique. Patient recruitment forms for demographic information and medical history were also accomplished at the time of actual screening. Two hundred three out of 760 patients (26.7%) were HBsAG positive with an age range of 9-71 and with a mean age of 34.1 (±11.7).
