Comparative Colorimetric Simulation and Evaluation of Digital Cameras Using Spectroscopy Data, DICTA

In this paper, we present a comparative simulation and evaluation of digital cameras using spectroscopy, colorime-try and photogrammetry. Here, we compare the output of commercially available cameras to that yielded using the CIE-1931 colour standard and the colour matching func-tions proposed by Stiles and Burch [14]. We present a method to estimate the colour yielded by trichromatic cam-eras based upon their spectral response. We then present the results on three experimental vehicles and three com-mercially available cameras. We perform simulation using the spectrum of light emitted by black body radiators, the spectra of sample colours widely used for colour correction and present renderings using the spectra of known materi-als under controlled illumination conditions.
