2004b): Organizations as communicative cognitive agents

Abstract. An approach to the analysis and modeling of organizational information processes of knowledge extraction and semantic communication is presented. Organizations are treated as autonomous systems situated in a certain environment. It is assumed that internal information processes of organizations that are responsible for the production of linguistic representations, can be conceptualized as internal processes of cognitive communicative agents. An original symbolic model for communicative cognitive agents is presented and an approach to map this model onto organizational processes is suggested. This model makes it possible to ground logic like communicative language in the content of organizational databases and to preserve the intentional meaning of the communication language. The original model for the so called epistemic satisfaction relations describing the phenomenon of the language grounding can be used as an analytic tool that supports the intentional modeling of organizational language behavior and related processes.
