We present a study that identifies student behavior, development of soft skills and learning improvement during a project oriented software engineering course at the B. Sc. Level. Assessment of behaviour characterized as soft skills and knowledge when students work in a collaborative way is hard to achieve, but useful for effective tutoring. We contribute to constructing a strategy for applying self-assessment on collaborative actions that take place in the classroom, assuming that such actions are the manifestation of the learning process.
